Geraghty aiming to return for Cheltenham

Meath jockey Barry Geraghty is aiming to make a return to action in time for Cheltenham after he was brought to hospital following a fall at Kempton yesterday.

Geraghty was injured after he took a fall from from the Nicky Henderson-trained Charli Parcs and the Meath man ppeared to receive a kick from another runner in the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle,

Kempton clerk of the course Barney Clifford confirmed the rider had headed to St George's Hospital in nearby Tooting for a more thorough check.

It is understood that the popular Meath jockey has a cracked rib and a slightly collapsed lung and is now in a battle against time to make it to the Festival

Yesterday at Kempton he won the opening race on the card with the Alan King-trained River Frost.

Last July he sustained a broken arm in a crashing fall at Market Rasen on the the JP McManus-owned Cernunnos which
fell at the final fence when challenging for the win in a handicap chase.

After three months on the sidelines following that injury the Meath man returned to action with a winner at Chepstow in early October 2016.
