Tormey returned to serve fifth term

Meath Co Board chairman Conor Tormey, who was returned to serve a fifth term unopposed, delivered an upbeat address at tonight's annual convention at Navan O'Mahonys GAA clubhouse with particular praise for the Meath hurling teams under the guidance of Martin Ennis, Philip O'Brien and John Delaney.

'This is my fourth address to a Meath GAA convention and in that time we have made huge strides in almost every sector,' he said.

'It is our desire to build a stadium in Navan that the people of Meathcan be proud of.

'I particularly want to congratulate our Laochra na Mí committee for their magnificent work in organising the 1916 Commemoration.

'Our finances continue to improve from where they were pre four years ago.

'A catalogue of injuries seriously weakened manager Mick O'Dowd's hand during the course of disappointing league and championship campaigns.

'Following Mick's departure we conducted extensive interviews to find his replacement and we are delighted to welcome back Andy McEntee to the Meath inter-county scene.

'I have only one more year to serve and it will be challenging, but I'm looking forward to serving another term,' he concluded.
