Heartbreak for Gary and Dundalk - next up Europa League

For 92 minutes tonight in Warsaw Dundalk were a goal away from taking the Champions League play-off second leg against Legia to extra-time as Bohermeen man Gary Rogers produced a number of stunning saves after Robbie Benson's 19th minute lead goal left the tie finely balanced at 2-1.

Legia went down to 10 men midway through the second-half, but the demands of playing at a high tempo took a toll on a magnificent Dundalk effort and the hosts equalised on the night in that 92nd minute. Game Over.

Or is it?

A Meath man and a League of Ireland club playing European football in September doesn't happen too often but it will this year as Dundalk have the consolation of six games in the Europa League.

Not a bad consolation and what's even better, you might meet Gary Rogers walking down the street in Navan some day next week or the week after - or you might even go to see him playing in the bread and butter of the League of Ireland.

Gary is also the current Meath Sportsperson of the Year.
