Noel Meade with Tulsa Jack

Tulsa time at Kilbeggan

The Noel Meade-trained Tulsa Jack won the big race at Kilbeggan last night with Jonathan Moore, who lost his five-pound claim with the win, on board for the politically well-connected Grand Alliance Racing Club.

The Cork National last November was the last success for Tulsa Jack which since then ran in the Irish National and picked up some money (2,750) for an eighth place finish and also ffinished third in the Killarney national in May.

Tulsa Jack made headway last night with a circuit to go, was second three out before hitting the front to win by 16 lengths.

Carriganog finished second for Barry Geraghty for trainer Joseph O'Brien while Meade also trained the third home, Tom Horn, and that was Tom Horn (16/1) who was another six lengths back under Phillip Enright - second and third are both owned by JP McManus.

Geraghty was on his travels today with one ride for his boss (JP McManus) at Market Rasen at a low weight (10-4) but the popular Meath jockey took a crashing fall at the last when challenging for his race.

Dunshaughlin jockey Keith Donoghue was also on the mark for Gordon Elliott when he partnered Cecil Corbett to a comfortable win in an incident-packed beginners'chase in which four of the eight runners failed to complete with Ger Fox finishing third on 100/1 chance.

There was also a 50/1 winner when Andrew Lynch partnered Chitu to victory in a handicap hurdle for trainer Stuart Crawford.

Lynch was also on the mark at Killarney on Thursday to maintain his good form when he won the feature with Time For Mabel and trainer Edward O'Grady while Barry Geraghty was successful for JP McManus with Tesseract in a novice hurdle.

Gordon Elliott made the trip to Cartmel today with two runners and both won - Western Home won a handicap chase and Esthiaal won a handicap hurdle for the Longwood-based handler.
