Treble for Ger Lyons at Fairyhouse

Kiltale trainer Ger Lyons completed a treble at Fairyhouse today when he won the first and last with regular jockey Colin Keane and the featured Brownstown Stakes with Gary Carroll, whose grandfather (Frankie Carroll) was from Kildalkey.

It will probably give Lyons the bragging rights again a week after his good friend from up road near Dunshaughlin - Eddie Lynam - had a treble at Naas.

Lyons and Keane took the last with Lustrous Light which ran in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

Lustrous Light set the pace today to beat the Aidan O'Brien-trained Cook Islands by two and a half lengths.

Lyons and Keane also won the opener with Noivado, another success for popular owner Sean Jones.

With Gary Carroll on board, Queen Catrine took the featured Brownstown Stakes, Lyons won the race last year with Ainippe which could only manage a disappointing fifth this year.

In the feature, Raymonda was sent off the 4/5 favourite but could only manage fourth as Queen Catrine and Most Beautiful fought out the final furlong.

Lyons has now had seven winners for July and is on the 28-winner mark for the season.
