Trainer Thomas Gibney and jockey Jonathan Moore

Moynalty winner for trainer Gibney

Meath trainer Thomas Gibney continued his good run in recent weeks when he added another winner to his tally at Tipperary on Thursday when he won a beginners chase with 66/1 chance Stoughan Cross which is owned by the Moynalty Partnership and was bred by Anne Kangley.

Only 10 of the 16 starters completed and jumping is what it's about with Wexford jockey Jonathan Moore always prominent and scoring by three-parts of a length despite making a slight mistake at the second last.

The winner finished second at the same meeting last year in a handicap hurdle.

'He only had his first proper run a week and a half ago and I didn't expect to win today. As long as the weather stays wet, he might run again but we might struggle ground-wise,' stated the trainer.

Barry Geraghty was also on the mark at Tipperary for hos boss JP McManus.

The ladies were in fine form at Kilbeggan last night with a double for Rachel Blackmore while Nina Carberry teamed up with trainer Noel Meade to win the bumper.
Gordon Elliott completed a double and jockey Robbie Powerw as also on the mark at the Westmeath track.

Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh was the man to following at Dundalk last night where he recorded a treble, two for trainer Charles O'Brien and one for Ado McGuinness.

Ger Lyons added another winner to his tally when Strada Di Carsoli won over seven furlongs and that had the stewards asking questions.

The stewards requested a report as to the apparent improvement in form as compared with its recent form. The trainer stated that this horse had run well here on its penultimate start but had raced a little green at the Curragh last time and as a result had not produced his best form.

This they the trainer decided to allow Strada Di Carsoli to race prominently and he seemed to respond to the change of tactics.

Having considered the report the Stewards noted its contents.
