Three in-a-row for Teach na Teamhrach

There was plenty of tension in the air at the Round O last night as the big guns of the Navan & District Darts League went head-to-head in the eagerly-awaited Div 1 final.

The teams delivered a thriller as Teach na Teamhrach completed a three-in-a-row with Christy Moffatt snatched a sensational victory in the last game of the night against Pat McGowan of the Old Bridge Inn.

The night had started well for the Old Bridge Inn and they raced into a 2-0 lead, but then had to concede a walkover and lost the next two to trail 2-3 going into the sixth where a 180 from Fergus McKeown helped them back to parity (3-3).

That put Moffatt and McGowan in opposition and the former Navan RFC prop was faultless in winning the first two games, but then the nerves began to creep in and McGowan capitalised to haul it back to 2-2.

Moffatt was hanging on in the deciding game and it looked like McGowan would win as he had a couple of chances to seal the victory.

However, Moffatt played with a steady hand in the crucial closing stages to complete that three-in-a-row for Teach na Teamhrach.
