Joe Bonner (Independent)

Joe Bonner was first elected to Meath County Council in 2004 as an independent councillor.
The provision of community facilities is high on his agenda. Since his election, he has represented and worked with the community, leading many projects, including securing €1.5 million for community facilities in Ashbourne.
He is now in his third term as a councillor – having topped the poll in the last local elections. He is an experienced councillor without party affiliation and says he represents all of the community without the influence of a party whip.
He has represented the interests of the community on issues related to planning, zoning, housing, infrastructure, water, footpaths, roads, public lighting, sport, education, employment, sewerage and personal issues. He regularly hold public information meetings on a wide range of issues including zoning, planning, security, water, household charge, property tax, septic tank charges, Irish Water and community facilities.
“Now, more than ever, it is vitally important that the people elected to the Meath East constituency are competent, experienced and have the best interests of the community at heart – rather than promoting a party agenda,” he says.
