Darren O'Rourke (Sinn Fein)
Originally from Kells, Cllr Darren O’Rourke is 35 and lives with his partner, Maria, in Ashbourne.
Sinn Fein’s group leader on Meath County Council, he is also a member of the Regional Health Forum and vice-chairperson of the Strategic Policy Committee on Economic Development.
He holds a BSc in Biomedical Science from DIT, an MSc in Molecular Pathology from Trinity College, a Diploma in Sales and Marketing from Dublin Business School and an MSc in Leadership and Management Development from the Royal College of Surgeons.
Since being elected to Meath County Council in 2014, he has been a full-time public representative. Prior to this, he worked in the Dáil for three years as policy advisor to Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin. Prior to that, he worked as a clinical biochemist in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
He is an avid sports participant and played football with Gaeil Colmcille in Kells and soccer to senior level in the Meath and District League. He is a member of Ashbourne Boxing Club and has run a number of mountain and endurance races while raising funds for local sporting and community organisations.
