Sheehy, Callaghan and Morland strike gold

Cushinstown athletes Shannon Sheehy (pictured), Amy Callaghan and Elizabeth Morland  all claimed gold medals at the Leinster Indoor Juvenile Championships at Athlone last weekend.

Sheehy won two Leinster u-18 titles and also claimed a silver medal. Her clearance of 1.72m in the high jump was a new Leinster record and her leap of 5.19m in the long jump secured gold. Her silver medal came in the 60m hurdles where she was just beaten in a time of 8.83s.

Callaghan won two gold medals and also set a new u-13 national record for the shot (9.83m). She jumped 1.46m to claim the u-13 high jump crown and set a new Leinster record.

Morland added two more records to her name when she cleared a massive 1.73m in the u-19 high jump and won the 60m hurdles comfortably in a time of 8.69s.

The Cushinstown u-19 boys 4x200m relay team of Michael O’Sullivan, Luke Redmond, Conor Jones and Eoin Harkin ran a fantastic race to finish first while O’Sullivan’s throw of 11.47m in the u-19 shot won silver.

Zoe Mohan finished third in the u-18 shot throwing 10.02m and Luke Redmond took bronze in the u-19 200m.

Mollie White won the u-13 60m hurdles and jumped 1.35m in the high jump for a bronze.
