Motorists urged to slow down

With AA Ireland warning of wet conditions around Navan and urging motorists to drive with extra care, one motorist was unfortunate in the early hours of this morning at the roundabout at the Round O in the town where the vehicle left the road.

No further information is available at this time, but there are no major delays at the roundabout apart from other motorists slowing down to view the vehicle and that may cause some congestion later.

Met Eireann forecast for today is that the conditions will be a bright and mostly dry with sunny spells and just a few isolated showers. Winds will be mostly light, but wet and windy weather will extend from the southwest and south during Sunday evening and early Sunday night. A cool day, with maximum temperatures of 6 to 9 Celsius.

On Sunday night, a band of rain will spread northwards across the country, and winds veering southerly will become very strong and gusty once again. This new wet spell will maintain the threat of flooding in many areas.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and to slow down.
