Flanns yer only man for navan

Val O’Donnell’s one-man-show production of ‘Flann’s Yer Only Man’ is playing for one night in Beggy’s Bar, Bridge Street, Navan, on Thursday 29th October at 8pm. The play is written and performed by Val O’Donnell and is a very entertaining look at the life and work of Flann O’Brien, aka Myles na Gopaleen, aka Brian O’Nolan (1911-1966). His novels include ‘At Swim Two Birds’, ‘The Third Policeman’ and ‘An Béal Bocht’ and he is widely regarded as Ireland’s finest satirist since Jonathan Swift. Val re-enacts a wide range of extracts from the humorist’s novels and his celebrated Cruiskeen Lawn column in The Irish Times. These are linked with key events in the writer’s life.
Flann’s Yer Only Man was performed for the first time in the Palace Bar, Fleet Street, Dublin on 5th October 2011, the centenary of the writer’s birth. It has also been performed at Listowel Writers’ Week Literary Festival, the Flann O’Brien Literary Festival in Strabane, the Swift Festival in Trim and in theatres all over the country. The production has received considerable critical acclaim. Tickets for the Navan performance can be booked (086) 853 4205 or at the door.
