The warmest day of the year for Meath and lots to look forward to this weekend

The hottest day of the year for Ireland and for the locals of Meath as temperatures hit 23 degrees.

Sunny spells and clear skies are not the only thing coming to Meath this weekend. Get your cameras and mobile phones out tonight as there is a chance to view the northern lights, especially in the north of the country.

With an uncommonly powerful solar storm in outer space today, scientists have suggested the possibility of the Northern Lights being visible from Ireland later tonight.

Make the most of the good weather and head down to Dunderry Fair this Sunday for some singing, dancing and a bit of craic with the warm weather set to hold out until the rain kicks in on Monday.

Luckily there is a weekend filled with sport to keep you occupied outdoors too as the Meath Ladies football take on Dublin in Croke park on Sunday in the Leinster SFC Final or why not watch the Meath U-20's footballers take the long road to FBD Semple Stadium on Saturday to battle it out with Kerry in the fight to be in the All-Ireland final.

With temperatures of 22 degrees set for tomorrow, will you be heading to scavenge a 99 or have your first BBQ of the season?
