Silver for shannon

There was success at the Celtic Games in Scotland at the weekend when 16-year-old Navan girl Shannon Sheehy (Cushinstown AC) captained the Irish girls team in the u-18 high jump where she won a silver medal.

It was great performance from the talented young Meath athlete and her contribution helped the Irish team secure a second place finish.

She jumped 1.65m in very bad weather conditions to take the silver medal position.

The St Michael’s, Loreto student has had a tremendous season with victories in the national u-17 and junior indoor and outdoor titles in hurdles and high-jump.

She set a new youths high jump record and also made the European Olympic standard time in the 100m hurdles.
