Dunboyne edge out trim in thriller

The big crowd that showed up for the SHC encounter at Kilmessan this evening certainly got value for money as Dunboyne defeated Trim 2-15 to 2-14 in a thrilling contest at Kilmessan this evening. 

The lovely, sunny evening meant conditions were perfect for a contest between two teams that went into this game undefeated. 

Points from Niall Smyth and Stephen Moran helped Dunboyne gain a crucial edge going in the closing minutes.

With the game going into injury time Johnny Gorry's side led by those two points and while Trim's James Toher pulled a score back from a free there was no stopping Dunboyne.

Neil Hackett and Seanie McGrath grabbed goals for Dunboyne while Neil Heffernan and Damo McGee found the target for Trim who led for long stretches including the break when they were 1-8 to 1-7 to the good.

There were some outstanding performances from players on both sides with Toher, who finished with 0-9 and Hackett, who registered, 1-8  superb for their respective teams in a hard-hitting yet sporting encounter. 

Dunboyne have now made it three wins from three outings and are looking good to top their group.
