Athletes relaxing after tonight's race

30th patrick bell memorial race a big success

There was a good turn-out at the Bohermeen AC-promoted Patrick Bell Memorial Road Race over 5kms this evening for the 30th anniversary event with Mark Kirwan of Raheny Shamrocks taking the laurels in a good time 0f 14mins 57seconds despite the blustery and windy conditions (see video of all finishers who completed in under 20 minutes).

There was only 24 seconds between the first four home in the men's race with Paddy hamilton (15.02) of Slieve Gullion in second place with two locals in the next two positions.

Dunboyne's Pater Brandon (15.18) was third and Bohermeen's talented young athlete Darragh Rennicks (15.21) in fourth. 

In the M45 category the honours went to Pater Gaffney (non-club), M50 winner was patrick O'Grady and Bohermeen's David O'Connell took the M55 category.

LADIES

The best in the female category was Charlotte Kearney (Donadea) who finished in 17.41 which was 24 seconds clear of Paula Grant (Portlaoise) 18.05 in second place.

Star of the Sea athlete Orla Timmons was third in 18.29 and Navan's Ciara Rooney was fourth in 18.31.

Dunboyne's Emilia Dan took the F45 category, Navan's Mary Watters took the F 50 and Linda Gunning was the F55 winner.
