Meath girl in action for ireland today

Meath girl Naoisha McAloon (pictured) played for the Republic of Ireland today in the opening game of the UEFA Womens U-16 Development Tournament in Gannon Park, Malahide.

The talented goalkeeper has made steady progress over the last few years and today was kept busy as the Czech Republic won 2-0 with goals in the opening 20 minutes.

'It was a difficult start for us against a well-organised side who have been together a bit longer than we have,” said Irish coach Sharon Boyle.

The Irish girls will meet Austria at Home Farm FC in Whitehall tomorrow afternoon (4.00pm) then face Denmark on Monday at Gannon Park (11.00am).
