Bad day for trim celtic as they ship 12 goals

The realities of playing one of the top young football teams in the country came back to haunt Trim Celtic when they were defeated 1-12 by St Kevin Boys in the FAI u-17 Cup competition at the MDL Complex today.

Playing against a side packed with under-age internationals Trim Celtic struggled to create any chances.

They were already on the way out of the competition at the break when they trailed 1-6 with their goal scored by Nathan Costello early in proceedings.

After that Robbie Wogan's side spent almost all their time on defensive duties with goalkeeper Nathan Sheridan prevening a rout of even bigger proportions with a string of excellent saves in the second-half.

The St Kevin's Boys team included former Parkvilla player Ross Treacy, who has played for the Republic of Ireland at various under-age levels as a goalkeeper.

However, he had very little to do as his colleagues controlled affairs and could easy have added four or five more to their account.
