International athletics arrives in dunboyne

Athletes from home and abraod made their way to the Cow Park in Dunboyne today for the Celtic Games international races which were held at the venue.

The day's racing also incorporated the Leinster Juvenile, Junior and Senior Cross-Country Championships.

The Celtic Games included teams of talented young athletes from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Scotland dominated both the junior and senior Celtic Games events, although there were some strong performances by Meath runners including Andrew Coscoran (Star of the Sea) and Thomas Moran (Dunshaughlin) in the junior and senior races. Both finished in the top 10 in their respective events. 

At individual level Sara Mulligan (Dundrum) won the senior women's race while Scotland's Max McNeill was best in the men's race with Moran among the leading finishers. 

The Meath team in the women’s senior race also put in a strong display securing the silver medal position.

Another team from the Royal County who make their mark was the Bohermeen selection of Ryan Sheridan, Oscar Rogan, Cillian Gormely and Alan Mulvaney who won the boys u-16 team event.
