Rennicks and dan win crosscountry crowns

Bohermeen athlete Darragh Rennicks conjured up a powerful display to win the senior men's race for the fifth successive year at the Meath Senior and Juvenile Relay Cross-Country Championships this morning.

Rennicks (23) led almost all the way and as the race went on he continued to increase his lead on the course at the Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort near Enfield.

The athlete who stayed the longest with Rennicks was Star of the Sea's Andrew Coscoran however, even he started to drop off from the half-way stage. Coscoran finished second with Dunboyne AC's Luke Forde third.

The women's race was claimed for the first time by 45-year-old Dunboyne athletic Emilia Dan who defied the passing years to produce a big performance and finish ahead of Dunshaughlin pair Shauna Moran and Shauna Moore.

There were also a series of juvenile relay races on the course which is located just inside Kildare.
