Christmas co club at creans this week

Friday 19th December sees Creans Bar of Oldcastle, host the Christmas Co Club at 9pm.

Music on the night will come from Paul McCabe and Serena Dempsey, Aine Cahill and the Cup of Tea Sessions. There'll also be a special Christmas Carol Session to finish the night off with special guest performers. Fashion designer Mary Brady will be displaying her work.

There will be a mulled wine reception with mince pies, and a prize for the best Christmas jumper.

The acts

Paul McCabe and Serena Dempsey

Paul is a second year undergraduate music student in Maynooth University, who lives in Mountnugent, Co Cavan. He has been playing piano since he was 10 years of age. Playing a mix of contemporary and classical airs and compositions, he plays at weddings and small functions all around Ireland. A resident pianist in Crover House Hotel, its no doubt he has a big passion for performing and making music

Serena is a second year music student, also in Maynooth University, from Tullamore, Co Offaly. She also began learning the piano at a young age of eight years. She picked up the cello at the age of 12 and it automatically became her first love. Participating in The Sacred Hearts Choir and Orchestra for many years she has become a vastly experienced performer. A member of the Maynooth University Chamber Orchestra, Serena enjoys arranging and playing music from all genres, from classical to contemporary styles.

Mary Brady


Mary is a bespoke tailor and couturier in training. She is currently studying a post-graduate Diploma in Bespoke Fashion Tailoring at the prestigious Louis Copeland National Tailoring Academy and has previously studied fashion design at the Grafton Academy of Dress Design.

Mary is also a qualified milliner having trained in the London College of Fashion under Chloe Scrivener, former milliner with Philip Treacy and under couturier and milliner Thomas Von Nordheim. Mary currently specializes in couture, made to order occasion wear and hats but hopes to establish a line in fine women's tailoring.

Aine Cahill


Áine Cahill is a 19 year old, singer/songwriter from Cavan who has been building up a loyal fan base whilst gigging.

She has won awards at Cavan Creative Music Performance 2013 and Starfactor 2012/2013. With influences ranging from Lady Gaga, Marilyn Monroe, Lana Del Rey and  Marina and the Diamonds, she is currently recording here debut EP.

The Cup Of Tea Sessions


The Cup of Tea is a group of musicians from Oldcastle / Moylough /  Munterconnaught and the surrounding area. They meet in the Parish Hall Oldcastle every two weeks on a Thursday evening between 8pm and 10pm to practice and learn new traditional Irish tunes. They enjoy a cup of tea and a few tunes. New musicians are always welcome.
