Kells to feature on tg4 programme

Kells will be featured in the TG4 programme ‘Spillane an Fánaí’ which will be screened next Tuesday night at 10pm and repeated on Thursday13th November at 9pm.
In next Tuesday’s programme, Spillane travels to Kells and The Westway Bar. He is treated to performances from the Kells Silver Band and from Celtic Tenor, Matthew Gilsenan. 
Seeking out inspiration for his song writing, John meets with local man Vincent Garvey who gives him the history of the ancient Tailteann Games. Tiarnán De Hál shows John historic places of interest in the town including the Round Tower, Celtic Crosses and the Spire of Loyd and White Witch, Gemma McGowan, tells John of possible cures for his ailments at St Ciaran’s Well.

Spillane an Fánaí is a heartwarming and revealing six part entertainment series.

Spillane spends a week in six different locations, venturing out to meet a host of locals in search of musical inspiration for his songwriting in the uniqueness and character of small town life.
The towns John visits in the series are Boyle in Roscommon, Youghal in Cork, Athenry in Galway, Kells, Killaloe in Clare and Gorey in Wexford.
