Local bands in jgermeister sessions finals

Three Meath bands are in the finals of a competition to be selected as Ireland’s best live act who will get the opportunity to be the 100th band to play at the Freezer Sessions and win a trip to Germany. But they need local support and votes to get there.

Over the last number of years, The Jägermeister Freezer Sessions have packed venues across the country, bringing Irish music fans the best rising bands, the coolest acts of the moment and the bone fide stars – up close.

In August, Hot Press and Jägermeister put out the call to find Ireland’s best live act and as expected the response was overwhelming. Entries flooded in from all over the country and the standard was incredible. After much deliberation, fist fights and make-ups the judges managed to whittle the entries down to the one golden shortlist of 20 amazing live acts, including Meath bands, Cult Called Man, Throwing Halos and Jemson Green.

This isn’t about recorded output – this is about how a band will sound in a live, sweaty, packed-to- the-rafters venue.

Following the selection process, The Jägermeister Freezer Sessions Live Band of Year will be chosen and will take to the stage at the Dublin Session, becoming the 100th band to play on this platform.

The winning band will then be flown to the home of Jägermeister to perform live, and will also be given a tour of the Jägermeister factory in Wolfenbüttel. Following the trip, a full report of the happenings will appear in Hot Press.

The public can now vote to help decide the winner so it's time for Meath to get behind their local bands! This is a vital stage in the process of selecting the winner and people can vote at hotpress.com/thefreezersessions where a track from each shortlisted artist is available for you to listen and vote for your favourite.

Reacting to their shortlisting, Jemson Green stated: 'We would love to sit here without smiles on our faces but with all that is going it's difficult not to smile. We've been shortlisted by Hotpress for the top twenty bands in the Jagermeister Freezer Sessions live band of 2014, we are in the middle of making our debut album and we have played with some of the best bands in the country over the summer, including getting home to perform at Tara Rocks. It's been a hell of a year for us and we're extremely excited about what is to come and 2015.'

Jemson Green is made up of Ronan Power from Kilmessan, Shane Mason, Navan, Conor Dempsey, Edenderry, Bambi Morrissey, Dublin and Rory Clarke of Mullagh. The five-piece have developed their sound into what is now recognised as one of the finest examples of contemporary rock music in Ireland.
