Loughcrew gardens new venue for samhain festival

Following last year's sold out event, bank holiday Sunday 26th October sees the return of Samhain Festival with another incredible line up including the final Irish date for Jon Hopkins ‘Immunity’ tour, the return of renowned and adored John Talabot,electronic-music's brightest rising star Maya Jane Coles, pioneering Berlin-based duo Booka Shade (Live), the exceptionally talented Detroit vet Jimmy Edgar and more acts to be announced for the new location - Loughcrew Gardens, Oldcastle.

The new venue for Samhain Festival is fully licensed so this year’s festival will not be a BYO event. Spread across three stages and a plethora of theatrical nooks and crannies will be a host of international electronic acts, a cosmic selection of craft beers and a feast of gourmet food. Embrace an alter ego for the night with your best fancy dress and celebrate the ancient Celtic tradition of the 'Festival of the Dead’ at Samhain Festival 2014.

As the sun rises over Sliabh Rua, the Red Mountain, light climbs into the 5,000-year old cairn, illuminating the entire tomb and its three chambers before focusing on the Whispering Stone, an ancient white monolith, an omen of what’s to come at the spiritual home of Samhain.

Shadowed by Sliabh na Caillíagh, the Witch’s Mountain, bordered by 300 year old yew trees, grown to ward off evil spirits and centered around the ruined church of Saint Oliver Plunkett, lies the playground for the night, Loughcrew Gardens.
