The special music programme shines a spotlight on one of Ireland’s newest folk music festivals. The Johnstons Music Festival, which is now in its fourth year, was set up to commemorate The Johnstons folk group and to promote Irish folk music and emerging musical talent. The programme features insightful and engaging interviews from a host of names including Michael Scully, festival organiser, Joanne Macken, Tourism Group Slane, Pat Doyle, community representative and singers Ben and Colum Sands.

Michael Scully, Johnstons Music Festival organiser said it was fantastic that the festival will be broadcast to a global TV audience, “Slane has a long history of music and so it felt very natural for members of the town to put together the festival to honour the Johnstons and promote young talent. We wanted to bring the music of the Johnstons to a new generation. The festival is now in its fourth year and is growing in statue and reputation as a very successful festival. We are delighted to have Irish TV here with us to cover this event which shines a wonderful spotlight on the town. We hope everyone will enjoy watching it”, he said.

Irish TV presenter Yasmin Maassarani said she was thrilled to attend this special music festival. “Irish TV is all about showcasing local events and broadcasting them to a global TV audience. The Johnstons Music festival is a wonderful homegrown festival and we were delighted to showcase this event to our viewers all over Ireland and the UK,” she said.

Apart from The Johnstons Music Festival, the programme this week also features the Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre in Co. Mayo, the Armagh Rail Disaster 125th year commemoration and cooking from IrishTV chef Paul Treyvaud.
