This years Meath Style Awards Best in Beauty/ Day Spa 2014 finalists are Bathhouse Spa, Seoid Spa & Eclipse Face & Body Clinic. The winner will be announced at awards on Friday April 4th at the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells. Here we have each of our finalists profiled 

Bathhouse Spa

Bellinter House, Navan

An ‘exclusive experience’ is what the Bathhouse Spa at Bellinter House offers customers from luxurious rustic surroundings. The spa is one of only about 20 seaweed bathhouses left in Ireland and is used by customers from all over Ireland who recognise that the special qualities in seaweed can greatly benefit the skin. Since opening in 2010, staff at the unique spa venue have worked “continuously to maintain high standards, offer consistent great customer service and are always trying to ‘wow’ our guests,” says manager Nicola Kinnerk.  

“We offer a feeling of wellbeing with a homely and warm atmosphere. We give more than just a treatment – we give an exclusive experience,” she added. As well as seaweed baths, the spa offers a wide range of holistic, rejuvenating and relaxing therapies and massage treatments. Almost good enough to eat, bath treatments include a chocolate bath or Cleopatra milk and honey bath - great for the body and soul.

After treatments, guests can relax in the sauna and steam room, swimming pool, or outdoor hot-tub or choose to sit in their robes with a poolside lunch. The Bathhouse Spa offers midweek, half-day and full-day packages as well as bridal party packages for both bride and groom

Seoid Spa

Dunboyne Castle Hotel

Ever wanted to lie on your own private heated beach in Ireland in April? Or give your tired body three hours of deep sleep in 20 minutes? Sounds impossible? Well not at Seoid Spa in Dunboyne Castle Hotel. The spa is a luxurious sanctuary of calm that offers outstanding facilities in a hushed, tranquil atmosphere amid lavish surrounds. Promoting harmony, vitality and wellbeing through ancient pampering and relaxation rituals from around the world, treatments include rasul chambers, floatation, balnew therapy and a hydrotherapy pool.

According to Seoid, the spa allows you to “escape time and slow down to a pocket of peace”. Among the specialised treatments available here is the floatation tank. Twenty minutes in here is equal to three hours’ deep sleep. The rasual chamber fills with steam and allows mud treatments to permeate the skin. While this is happening, you can listen to music and look up at 500 fibre optics which twinkle in the night sky of the dome’s ceiling.

Eclipse Face & Body Clinic

Oldcastle

Pampered! That’s the word that sums up how you feel when you leave Eclipse Face and Body Clinic in Oldcastle. Established in 2003 by Ruth McDermott, the Cavan Street salon has built up a huge reputation for its exemplary customer service and refreshing treatments. There are not many salons that can say it was invited to Los Angeles by a beauty company– but that’s exactly what happened Eclipse. Ruth was the second therapist in Ireland to achieve expert status with Dermalogica skin care which described the salon as “one of their most inspirational skin care clinics”.

So impressed was Dermalogica that they invited Ruth and her staff to top luncheons twice to share ideas and inspire other beauty salons. They also extended the invitation to Los Angeles alongside other top account-holders from all over the world. Customer service is extremely important to the salon and Ruth says: “We try to make each client feel special and make them know we value their custom.

“We also like to talk to our customers before they buy a product so that they are buying the right one for their skin-type.” Ruth and her staff are always learning and improving their skills and as well as an impressive array of treatments, they also offer packages for men and pregnant women.
