Leinster title for Paddy Maher

There was success for Dunshaughlin Community College student Paddy Maher at the  Aviva Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships at Santry Demesne on Wednesday.

Maher won the junior title with an impressive performance that secured victory ahead of James McGuire (St Benildus) in second and Niall Harvey (Presentation College, Carlow) who finished third.

Andrew Coscoran (Star of the Sea) and Aaron Hanlon, both of St Mary’s Drogheda battled it out for the senior boy’s title.

Both athletes took turns at leading the race with Padraig Moran (Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar) in close pursuit.

Hanlon made the decisive move on the last lap and pulled away to record an impressive victory.

Coscoran held on for second place with Moran battling all the way to the line to round out the podium places.
