Calls for Museum at Navan Town Hall

A call for Navan Town Hall to be used as a tourist office and museum was made this week.

Navan Town Council is due to be abolished in May and at a meeting of the council, Cllr Joe Reilly said theTown Hall is an iconic Navan building that has played a central part in the history of the town.
He called on Meath County Council to utilise the building, which was a former RIC barracks, as a Navan tourist office and Navan town museum.
Cllr Reilly pointed out that Navan had a lot to offer, including the Points of Pride trail, the Sculpture Trail and the Solstice Arts Centre.
He believed that a tourist office and museum would help bring tourists to the town.
He suggested the town council approach the county council to look at the best use of the building, and tourism should be the strongest contender.
Cllr Anton McCabe said the building should be secured in some way for the town and a museum was a good choice.
