Top Twitter Topics - December 9th

Need some catching up on this weekend’s top Twitter trends? Fear not, we have you covered.

#ipw

IPW, or Irish Pictorial Weekly as it is more commonly known, aired last night. It was the third episode in the current series which saw various political and media cultures picked upon. The RTE news, Crimecall and The Today Show were all on the receiving end of the IPW sketch this week. We love it here in the office. What did you make of it?

#nfl

Week 14 of the NFL was on this weekend across America and it made for some chilling viewing. The game between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia was greeted with a serious snow storm that left spectators seriously confused about field positions and distances as visibility was extremely poor. Philadelphia ended up beating both Detroit and Mother Nature by a score line of 34-20.

Christmas, Xmas, Santa

I think it’s safe to say that Christmas related trends are here to stay for the foreseeable future. With it only being 16 sleeps till the big day the festive frenzy has well and truly kicked off all around the country. Christmas presents are being bought, trees have been decorated and santy has arrived at all the major shopping centers and parks over the last few weeks. On another note, Home Alone made its first appearance on TV last night on Channel 4 a true sign that it’s officially Christmas… ya filthy animal.

Kian, #imacelebrity

The final of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me out of Here took place last night and the Irish came out on top with ex Westlife star, Kian Egan, being crowned as King of the Jungle 2013. The final was between Kian and fashion designer David Emanuel. Before they crossed the rope bridge to freedom, however, they had to take part in the stomach churning Bushtucker Food Feast which saw both Kian and David reluctantly eat cricket legs, sea worm and fish eyes. Both men finished the trial and were treated to a three course meal of their choice. Kian explained that it had been the best three weeks of his life and was reunited with his emotional wife Jodi Albert after being crowned.

Leona Lewis

The X – Factor semi finals took place over the weekend with each act having to perform both a Beyoncé and an Elton John number. The results show last night, however, was the main focal point as it saw the return of the 2006 winner Leona Lewis who performed her new Christmas hit, One More Sleep. The stage was transformed into a winter wonderland with snow, presents and Christmas dressed dancers as Leona belted out her new hit single. The joy was short lived though as the voting went to deadlock and Rough Copy were sent home. Next weekend’s final will see Sam Bailey, Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald battle it out for the title of X – Factor winner 2013.
