Jimmy O'Brien scoops top award

The Rehab Meath People of the Year awards took place at the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells last night with Slane man Jimmy O'Brien scooping the overall award in front of a packed Kenlis Suite after the eight individual category awards were presented.

Meath Co Council chairman John V Farrelly praised all the recipients for their commitment to the local community and in the case of Peter McMahon and Alisha Jordan, for their bravery and determination in difficult circumstances.

Aidan Heffernan accepted the Community Award on behalf of Sr Catherine Lillis / Tabor House and explained that she was unable to attend as she was recovering from a hip replacement operation.

“When Sr Catherine says jump, you just ask her 'how high' – I'm sure anyone who knows her will understand that remark,” he commented.

Catch 22 provided the music and Jimmy O'Brien and his entourage took to the floor with great enthusiasm - unfortunately the battery on the video camera went flat at this stage!
