Dalton for Trim

Former Kildare player and Meath minor football manager Davy Dalton has been appointed as new coach at Trim taking over from John Andrews in charge of the club’s intermediate footballers.
Trim were relegated from senior football in 2011, but under Andrews they reached the IFC decider in 2012 losing out narrowly to Na Fianna. This year Trim struggled to make a similar impact and Andrews has stepped down from his role with Dalton taking charge.
Now is very much a transitional time for the Trim club with many of their stalwarts in the twilight of their playing days, but Dalton will draw plenty of encouragement from several successful under-age sides over the last four or five years and he will hope to launch a serious bid for IFC honours in 2014.
Beaten SFC finalists Na Fianna are believed to be on the look out for a new manager with John Lyons expected to step down when the Enfield/Baconstown club’s season ends following the Feis Cup (Na Fianna play Wolfe Tones in Feis Cup semi-final tonight).
Lyons enjoyed remarkable success with Na Fianna winning the IFC, A FL Div 3 and Div 2 as well as reaching the SFC final in their first year at senior level.
There are expected to be several more managerial changes at senior, intermediate and junior level with many clubs looking to shake things up before the start of the 2014 leagues in February.
