Kilmessan clinch impressive victory

Stephen Clynch played the full-game and scored eight points in the process as Kilmessan clocked up an impressive 0-18 to 2-9 victory over Dublin side Parnells in the Leinster Club IHC encounter at Coolock today.

Hampered by a hip injury all year Clynch made a rare start in this game and was superb throughout getting six points in the opening half to help his team go in at the break with a 0-11 to 1-5 advantage.

Kilmessan continued to tag on the scores at a steady rate in the second-half and while Parnells grabbed a second-goal with 59 minutes played but the Meath side held on to win.

Darren Reilly also made a significant contribution to the victory with five points from frees while Nicky Horan (three) Charlie Keena and Richie Donnelly (one apiece) also split the posts.

At the stroke of full-time Parnells substitute Keith Byrne was red-carded and was involved in a confrontation with a colleauge as he left the field. The dismissal completed a day of misery for the Dublin side.
