Navan u-13s take Bru na Boinne title

Navan u-13s recorded an impressive victory over their Boyne counterparts to claim the Colm Lynch Memorial Trophy in the Bru na Boinne tournament at the weekend.

On a bright, sunny day the match was played in front of a big crowd and with Cian McBride and Mark Coen producing some excellent running rugby for the home side, Navan were ahead by 17-5 at the interval.

The Navan defence came under considerable pressure in the second-half but they held firm.

The final tries were scored by Navan props Gary Faulkner and Ronan Garvevy with both converted by Tom Gavigan.

The trophy was presented to Navan captain Jack Hilliard.

This was the third annual Bru na Boinne fixture between Navan RFC and close rivals Boyne RFC.

The event sees all Youths and Senior age groups compete in a one win = one point format and after the points were tallied, the battle victors for 2013 were Navan RFC who retained the silver Sword of Battle trophy.
