Young Royals trounce Lilywhites

There was some good new for Meath hurling at last when they inflicted a heavy 4-16 to 1-15 defeat on Kildare in the All-Ireland B MHC quarter-final at Newbridge today.

Goals from Jack Regan, Gavin McGowan, Sean Doyle and Martin Healy ensured that the young Royals progress to the next round.

The visitors took an early grip on the game and they stayed in front resisting a late surge by the home side.

Meath manager Ken McKenna and his selectors emptied the bench in the closing stages and Kildare grabbed a goal in with time almost up to put a better reflection on the final scoreline.

Luke Rickard, Charlie Bird, Fagan, Regan and McGowan were among Meath's best performers.
