Oldcastle power into knock-out phase

Oldcastle produced a powerful performance this evening in Martry when they got the better of champions Seneschalstown in the group phase of the Ladies SFC by 4-7 to 1-11.

Oldcastle grabbed three first-half goals and were ahead by 3-2 to 1-4 at the interval, but were hauled back to level terms by the three-quarter stage (1-9 to 3-3) as Seneschalstown upped the tempo.

In what was a superb game of football, both sides gave it their all in the final quarter with Oldcastle substitute Gemma Galligan scoring 1-2 with her first three touches.

That eased Oldcastle into a solid position and they held on for a deserved victory.

Oldcastle defeated Boardsmillby 3-8 to 1-9 last weekend and now top their group.

The second place will be determined when Boardsmill play Seneschalstown in the final group game
