League title for Dunboyne hurlers

Dunboyne claimed the A HL Div 1 title with a 1-16 to 1-11 victory over Navan O'Mahonys in Ashbourne yesterday evening.

The Navan men lostfull-forward Paddy Skehan who sustained a finger injury as early as the 12th minute and they trailed by 1-4 to 0-12 at the interval with david Dillon finding the net.

Niall Hackett claimed eight of Dunboyne’s first-half tally with a brace of Barry Watters points and one each by Michael O’Grady and Niall Smyth.

O’Mahonys resumed smartly with points from Damien Moran, Stephen Quirke and Colin O’Rourke ('65’) splitting the Dunboyne posts.

Paul Fagan moved into attack for Dunboyne and claimed 1-1 which pushed Dunboyne into a 1-13 to 1-8 lead by the three-quarter stage with David Quirke adding the other O’Mahonys point.


The teams shared six points in the closing stages.
