Robbie romps home

Local runner Robbie Matthews romped to an effortless victory in the Royal County 5km road race at Kells this afternoon.

Matthews, who is from Crossakiel, but runs for Dunsagughlin AC, cruised to an impressive win in a time of 16mins 29 seconds ahead of Dunboyne's Rory Kavanagh with Dunshaughlin's Ciaran O'Dwyer in third place.

The first lady home was Tracy Brady from Virginia.

The Meath Local Sports Partnership-promoted event benefited a local charity - the Meath Special Hands activity group.

All the results and times will be published in this week's Meath Chronicle out on Tuesday night.

There will be extensive ohotographic coverage of the event also.
