Ashwood yearling colt tops Tattersalls sale

The Tattersalls Ireland February Sale on Tuesday was topped by Lot 206 when sold for €60,000 to Highflyer Bloodstock. The yearling colt by Robin des Champs ex John's Eliza was consigned by Ashwood Stud. Managing director, Roger Casey commented: "While it was always going to be difficult to match last year's record breaking February Sale where we saw a yearling colt make €100,000, this year's figures still represent the second highest turnover and highest clearance rate over the last five years. At the same time we have to acknowledge the challenging trading conditions albeit demand for quality lots was again evident throughout the day. "The February Sale continues to produce high class performers notably the outstanding Flemenstar, For Non Stop, Oscar Whisky, Cue Card and Tofino Bay to name just a few and we look forward to following the progress of this years graduates. "We now look forward to our flagship Derby Sale. Applications are up significantly on 2012 with inspections already underway".
