Barney Allen voted out

Barney Allen presided over his last official meeting at last night's Meath GAA adjourned annual convention at Áras Táilteann. The former Meath Co Board chairman ended 35 years as a member of the executive when he was unsuccessful in his bid for one of the two Leinster Council seats. The Rathkenny clubman was eliminated after the second count as Brian Carberry (127) topped the poll ahead of Francis Lynch (108) with Allen (83) eliminated as the declared quota was 106. However, there was a lack of clarity over the the voting process but delegates were not interested in the matter and insisted that the second vote finalised the matter. First count (quota 106): Brian Carberry 99, Francis Lynch 75, Braney Allen 73, Cyril Creavin 67; Creavin eliminated. Second count - B Carberry 127, F Lynch 108, B Allen 83.
