Joan Slattery, Ratoath There was widespread sadness following the death of Mrs Joan Slattery, Mullinam, Fairyhouse, Ratoath, on Friday last, after a year-long illness. Mrs Slattery, a member of the Bourke family of Johnstown, Navan, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and friends, aged 76. Mrs Slattery was a familiar figure in the county's agricultural and equestrian circuits, and loved the outdoor life. She was to be seen following local hunts and equestrian activities in which her daughters, Grace and Joy, participated, and on racing days at Fairyhouse Racecourse beside their home, was to be seen in the racecard stall providing racegoers with their cards. She was a very outgoing person who loved horses and ponies, and was a very independent woman who ran the family farm business following the passing of her husband. She was predeceased 14 years ago by her husband, Bob, and is survived by her daughters, Grace and Joy; son-in-law, Derek Murray, Clonalvy, grandson, Ross; sisters, Ann Foley, Ennistown, Kilmessan, Eleanor Meegan, Johnstown, and Ital Lyons, Johnstown; brother, Bill Bourke, Fairyhouse; extended family, neighbours and friends. Her funeral took place from the Holy Trinity Church, Ratoath, to the local cemetery, on Monday of this week. _________________________________________________________ Bridget Donohoe, Rathfeigh and Wicklow The death occurred on Sunday night of Mrs Bridget Donohoe, O'Neill Park, Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow. Deceased was a member of the O'Brien family, late of Painstown, Dunshaughlin, and was wife of the late Mr Joe Donohoe, who was a native of Martinstown, Athboy. Aged 91, she passed away peacefully at St Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, after a short illness. Mrs Donohoe is survived by her family, Brenda, Doris and Denise, Brian, John and David; sister, Nancy, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from St Joseph's Church, Newtownmountkennedy, to Kilmurray Cemetery. ________________________________________________________ John O'Neill, Trim The death of Mr John O'Neill, Hamilton Court, Trim, on 17th November last, was the source of considerable sadness. Aged 76, he passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Deceased, who was a native of Dublin, enjoyed a 37-year career in Jurys Hotel, Dublin. He had a keen interest in gardening and music, and played tin whistle and clarinet. He enjoyed walks around Trim and Kells, and meeting people. Mr O'Neill is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Yore); sons, Bernard, Dublin; Edward, Trim; daughter, Lorraine, Trim; grandchildren, Ben, Tara, Ciara, Cian, Callum, Erin; brothers, Arthur, Frank and Martin; sisters, Anne, Patsy and May; daughters-in-law, Suzanne and Caroline; son-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Patrick's Church, Trim, to St Loman's Cemetery. ________________________________________________________ Elizabeth Bennett, Bohermeen There was widespread sadness following the death of Mrs Elizabeth (Lily) Bennett, Neilstown, Bohermeen, Navan, at the age of 76. She died peacefully at her daughter's residence in Girley, Fordstown. A member of the Fitzsimons family of Bohermeen, Mrs Bennett was predeceased by her husband, Terry, in January 1998. She was a very active person who was regularly to be seen cycling the roads of the locality. She enjoyed gardening and always had her garden in full bloom. She was a dedicated family person who adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was always available with a helping hand. A fantastic neighbour and friend to anyone that knew her, she was a very kind and gentle lady and will be sadly missed by all. Mrs Bennett is survived by her daughter, Mary Kelly, Girley, Fordstown; sons, Terry, Patrick and John, Neilstown; sisters, Molly Muldoon, Dunboyne; Nancy McCormack, Dunderry, Phyllis Murtagh, Collinstown; son-in-law, Tony Kelly; daughter-in-law, Sinead Bennett; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nephews; nieces; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Ultan's Church, Bohermeen, to the adjoining cemetery. _______________________________________________________ Kitty Meade, Rathkenny The parish priest of Donore, Fr Michael Meade, has been bereaved by the death of his mother, Mrs Kitty Meade, Rathkenny, in her 92nd year. Mrs Meade was a sister of the former Meath footballer, Paddy Meegan, who died last month. She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy, and son, Thomas, and is survived by her family, Kit, Eamonn, Pat, James, Johnny, Rosemary, Joseph, Fr Michael, Liam, Paul and Kathleen; daughters-in-law; grandchildren; sister-in-law; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. The funeral took place yesterday (Tuesday) in Rathkenny. ___________________________________________________ Rose McGowan, Duleek The passing of Mrs Rose McGowan, Abbey Road, Duleek, occurred at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, on 22nd November last, causing widespread regret. Aged 77, she was formerly Rose Greene of Tymoole, Rathfeigh, Tara. A housewife, she enjoyed watching darts and football on television, gardening and socialising. She is survived by her husband, Mick; sons, John, Patrick, and Michael; daughters, Catherine and Rose; brothers, Pater, Jim and John, extended family; relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Cianan's Church, Duleek, to Holy Cross Cemetery.
