Fact stranger than fiction

Twelve months ago at the Meath GAA annual convention a nominee for a position was deemed ineligible as the GAA membership was not in order. Could something like that happen again at a Meath GAA convention? Last year Eamonn Barry was deemed ineligible to contest the role of Coaching Officer (he was the out-going officer) and he was duly replaced by PJ Cudden. Twelve months down the road, both Cudden and Barry have been nominated for the position again, but it appears that Barry will have a clear run at the annual convention next Monday night. It emerged this week that the 'membership issue' had arisen again - this time in the opposite direction. It appears that Barry will be the only eligible nominee, if he decides to seek the position. The Meath GAA annual convention for 2012 will take place next Monday night at 7pm in Áras Táilteann, Navan.
