Troytown Chase the big race next Sunday

Gordon Elliott could be treble handed in the feature event, the Ladbrokes Troytown Chase at Navan on Sunday. "They'll all run if they get in. Tharawaat will have close enough to top weight and that won't help him, but he is a good horse and we think he'll run a nice race," said the Longwood-based trainer. "Tarquinius is slow, but he won well at the weekend and I'd be happy if he ran into the money. "Romanesco might be the best of ours. He has won two for us this season and he might be a step ahead of the handicapper. Conditions will suit him at the weekend and I think he'll run a big race." Elliott also confirmed that Don Cossack will make an eagerly awaited debut over timber in the INH Stallion Owners Maiden Hurdle at Navan on Sunday. A triple bumper winner last season and is well regarded by his trainer Gordon Elliott. "We've always thought the world of this lad. He has grown and done very well over the summer," said the trainer. "Don Cosack has yet to fill out his frame and he looks a real chaser, but I am very happy with him, Davy Russell has been down to school him over hurdles and that went well. "We are looking forward to it and the trip and ground will suit him fine," he added. Bonisland will represent Elliott in the Grade 2 Irish Form Book Monksfield Novice Hurdle. "Bonusland did very well at Down Royal. He is a horse that doesn't need a lot of work and we've been pleased with him since. This looks the obvious race to go for and I don't think the drop back to two and a half miles will bother him,' he said. Faltering Fullback, successful in the Kerry National at Listowel in September, is a definite starter in the Troytown. "He worked this morning and I was delighted with him,' stated trainer Eric McNamara. "I am not sure who will ride him yet, I'll have to speak to his owners. He went up 14lbs for winning at Listowel and that was a fair hike, so we might claim off him - we'll decide closer to the time. He will handle conditions at Navan and we are looking forward to it." Dessie Hughes expects to run both the top weight Magnanimity and the novice Tofino Bay. Hughes will saddle Seefood in the Monksfield Novice Hurdle. This year Navan Town Centre is sponsoring the Ladies Day competition with the winner receiving €1,000 vouchers to spend in Navan Town Centre. Johanna McGarry, Operations Manager at Navan Racecourse said: "We are delighted to have Navan Town Centre on board sponsoring this year's Ladies Day Competition. It really is a fantastic prize and we hope it will entice lots of ladies to come on Sunday. "Along with Pat Mulaney, manager of Navan Town Centre, we will once again have our celebrity judge from last year TV3's Sybil Mulcahy judging the competition".
