Rathmolyon take IHC title

Rathmolyon proved too strong for Wolfe Tones in the IHC final today at Pairc Tailteann where they won by 3-12 to 2-10. Two years after they were relegated from the senior grade Rathmolyon returned to the top flight in Meath club hurling with a hard-earned vcitory. The curtainraiser to the senior final kept the good-sized crowd entertained with lots of goalmout action at each end, but ultimately it was the predatory instincts of Rathmolyon's corner forward John Farrell that made the difference. Farrell helped himself to three goals, all of them were opportunistic and demonstrated that despite a couple of years in the lower grade, Rathmolyon still have lots to offer and will be a welcome addition to next year's Jubilee Cup. "Rathmoylon are a proud club and playing intermediate hurling did not sit well with them, a team is completely off the radar once they're out of the senior," commented manager Martin Curran.
