Kells winner at Dundalk

Kells owner-breeder Norman Ormiston was in the winners' enclosure at Dundalk tonight with a smart two-year-old Carpathia, bred out of his own mare Night Cam which only ran three times as a juvenile. Trained by Kevin Prendergast 14/1 shot Carpathia was popular with the bookies when winning on his debut in the opening maiden. Declan mcDonogh, who rides most of Ormiston's winners missed out on this one due to an injury sustained this morning following a fall on the Curragh gallops. Carpathia stayed on well in the straight to win the opening race by half-a-length and could have another run before the end of the season. Bohermeen jockey Johnny Murtagh was also on the mark at Dundalk when partnering a winner for Jessica Harrington.
