Meath GAA figures join rally in support of Quinn family

Two prominent Meath GAA personalities were among a number of high profile figures who turned out at a rally in support of businessman Sean Quinn at a rally in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan at the weekend. Former footballer Colm O'Rourke and former Meath manager Sean Boylan were photographed in a line of people, including Armagh manager Joe Kernan and current Tyrone manager Mickey Harte at the front of a parade through the town. Colm O'Rourke, in a speech at the rally, said he believed Sean Quinn was not being treated fairly. He said that every argument was won by treating everybody with respect. "I suppose we all feel that that hasn't happened in this case and Sean Quinn and the Quinn family at one time were the greatest entrepreneurs of all and suddenly they're labelled as bneing greedy and the people who have brought down the State". Former Meath manager Sean Boylan, referring to his remarks made at the rally, told the Meath Chronicle "I did what I did and said what I said. I spoke about natural justice - I wasn't in any way being judgemental. I wouldn't have done what I did lightly". To read the full story see this week's Meath Chronicle.
