Debate on speed limits at Tara

Dear sir - Further to my letter sent last week I would like to inform you that I received a phone call from a member of staff in the Meath County Council, early Monday morning, offering some long convoluted explanation as to the reason why the speed limit on the main Navan to Dunshaughlin road is reduced from 80km to 50km for the short stretch of road as previously mentioned. Unfortunately his, bewildering to me, explanation re: the surface of the road being unsuitable for travelling on at 80 klms failed to convince me ,as I still think it's an accident waiting to happen, but I hope I will be proven wrong! He also advised me to contact the Road Safety Authority which I had already done and the local Garda which I refrained from doing as I couldn't quite grasp how the surface of the road had anything to do with the Guards although I'm willing to be proven wrong. However why I am really writing is to make an unreserved apology for calling members of the Meath County Council "fools and plonkers" as I wasn't necessary in getting my point across, and this gentleman in particular took personal great offence to those names where none was intended, so my full-hearted apology, as I wait to see what will be done about this continuing potentially dangerous situation. Yours, Alison King, Tall Trees, Ardsallagh, Navan. (Editor, Meath Chronicle) Dear sir - Regarding correspondence from Alison King regarding the 50km speed limit on the Navan to Dunshaughlin road, there were road works carried out on that section around a month or so ago. Temporary reduced 50km (from 80 km) speed limits were erected during the works being done, but when the workmen were finished the signs remained in place. I use this road every working day and wonder whether you could get fined for exceeding the signed speed limit between these signs! Yours, Peter English, Kells.
