North Meath reeling from tragedy on the double

Two north Meath communities were plunged into mourning this week following the tragic deaths of two young women in separate road accidents over the bank holiday weekend. The communities in Oldcastle and Kilmainhamwood were struggling to come to terms with the deaths of 41 year-old mother of three Caroline Ginnity from Mount Dutton Close, Oldcastle, in a traffic accident in the early hours of Saturday morning, and the tragic loss of 22 year-old Gráinne Gilsenan from Kilmainhamwood during a charity tractor run on Sunday. Mrs Ginnity died following a single vehicle collision at Balnagun Upper, Kells, in the early hours of Saturday morning. She was the lone occupant of the car and was was removed to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, where she was later pronounced dead. Gráinne Gilsenan died when the vintage tractor she was driving overturned towards the end of a charity run just outside Kilmainhamwood at around 5pm on Sunday. A second young woman who was also travelling on the tractor was injured in the incident. Ms Gilsenan was pronounced dead at Navan General Hospital. The passenger on the tractor was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
