Trim Labour cllr steps down for health reasons
Labour councillor Donall O'Brien has resigned his seat from Trim Town Council due to health reasons. The announcement was made at last week's town council meeting when councillors paid tribute to Cllr O'Brien for the way he represented Trim and a presentation was made to mark his time on the council. Donall O'Brien was elected in June 2009, taking over the seat previously held by his father, the late Danny O'Brien for two terms. The Labour Party is due to hold a selection convention on 28th May and is expected to co-opt a replacement for Cllr O'Brien at the June meeting of the council. Town clerk Brian Murphy made the announcement that Cllr O'Brien was to step down and he wished him well for the future. He said he was a pleasure to work with and always had the interest of Trim at heart, and had represented the town well during his period on the council. Cllr Phil Cantwell said he was very dedicated and wished him well for the future. Cllr Vincent McHugh said he was a "wise man to put his health first".
