Kells tourism brochure to be unveiled in February

The Kells Tourism Forum plans to launch its Kells and District Tourism Brochure on 7th February next. The brochure will be launched officially by a representative of the US Embassy and the cathaoirleach of Kells Town Council, Cllr Brian Collins. The American diplomat will take some time to visit the area of Teltown, outside the town, where the Tailteann Games that pre-date the Olympics began. He will visit the refurbished Eating Parlour at Headfort House and, later in the evening, be on hand for the official launch. The brochure is a handy reference point for sites of interest, and includes a walking trail of Kells. The Kells Tourism Forum points out that it will be of great use to tourism providers, businesses and tourist offices in the coming years. The brochure will be online at www.visitingkells.ie and will gradually be translated into Chinese, French and German, so that people planning their trip to Ireland can include Kells on their 'to do list' before they arrive. The website will have an online booking facility for accommodation, restaurants, shops and other services. The brochure was part-funded by Meath Partnership, and the rest of the funds were collected by fundraising through a horse racing night (with the aid of the Kells Anglers), donations from businesses around the town, the 'Battle of the Brains' quiz night held in conjunction with the Kells Chamber of Commerce, and a church gate collection at St Colmcille's Church.
