Monica Riordan who was last seen in Dublin city centre on 20th December.

Family searching streets for Monica

THE devastated sister of missing Navan resident Monica Riordan says her family has been desperately searching the Dublin streets from which she went missing three weeks ago. Bernadette Richardson said her family and Monica's work colleagues from the Pobal office on Holles Street, Dublin 2, have been on a hunt for clues around the city centre areas of Pearse Street, Grand Canal and Holles Street itself since the 39-year-old went missing in the days before Christmas. "It's completely out of character for Monica. She never stayed out on a night before for no reason," Bernadette said. "Dad is so upset, we're all extremely upset and as soon as you wake up in the mornings, you realise that she's still not here." Meanwhile, some 3,000 people have lent their support to a Facebook page, Find Monica Riordan, set up by niece Lisa and Bernadette to find Ms Riordan, who went missing on 20th December. There has been one confirmed sighting in the city centre of the missing woman, who is originally from Finglas but lives with her partner in Navan - on the day she went missing at around 5pm. Bernadette said she was "delighted" that there was a confirmed sighting but that she "would love to hear that someone saw her on the day after she went missing or the next day after that". "The last email I had from her was the previous Thursday when she said that she'd been out shopping, written her Christmas cards and was looking forward to her company party. There was no lead-up to her disappearing at all," Ms Richardson told the Evening Herald. Monica's colleagues from the Pobal office in Dublin have also been putting up posters in the area and handing out flyers. Anyone who was in the Macken Street, Pearse Street or Grand Cana Quay area of Dublin between 4.30pm and 6pm on 20th December and who may have seen Monica or has any information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on (01) 666 9000.
